Time to resign
EDITOR: As a feminist and a Democrat, I ask Supervisor Efren Carrillo to resign.
First, these are not victimless crimes he has been accused of. Within the past year, he has publicly exhibited aggressive, predatory behavior.
Let me say, most women are afraid to be alone every night of their lives, and the allegations against Carrillo haven't helped. He allegedly terrorized an innocent woman. However, thousands of Sonoma County women are standing behind her. May she be brave and stand up against the good ol' boys frantically trying to spin this story.
Second, maybe it was alcohol related, maybe it was not, but to many of us, Carrillo appears to be the puppet to those good old boys. There are those of us in Sonoma County who want him to stand up and face the community, his constituency, his people, the gentle-men, the every-day politicians and, most of all, the women of this county, whom he has disgraced and disappointed.
Goodness knows, it is long past the time for Carrillo to stand on his own two feet. It is time to address the shame, have courage, face the charges and resign. We will respect him so much more for it.
EDITOR: The column by Caleb Lundquist on Sunday's Teen Life page was extraordinary ("When friends are much more than what others may see"). For a high school student to have that kind of sensitivity, maturity and wisdom is a joy to behold. While Christopher is "the most special person" in Caleb's life, his example is really special to me.
