A Santa Rosa man was hospitalized Sunday after apparently stabbing himself in the stomach and getting run over by a pickup during a drunken fight, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.
His acquaintance, Matthew Christian, 35, of Kenwood was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Lt. Bret Sackett said.
The injured man and Christian apparently got into a fight when they returned to a residence on the 100 block of Adobe Canyon Road after having lunch, Sgt. Dave Thompson said.
Witnesses called 911 at 4:21 p.m. to report that Christian got into a pickup, drove into the Santa Rosa man and fled, Thompson said.
But before he was run over, the Santa Rosa man had started stabbing himself in the stomach. "Alcohol was a factor for both parties," Thompson said. "It got out of control."
Deputies arrived and found the victim was suffering blunt force trauma injuries and multiple stab wounds, Thompson said. He was in serious condition at a hospital Sunday.
Deputies tracked Christian to Highway 12, where they stopped him and arrested him.
