Fire damages Cloverdale business, home

A small debris fire in Cloverdale spread to the Cloverdale Cabinet Shop and a vacant house next door on S. East Street on Tuesday, but firefighters were able to control the blaze before it caused major damage.

Cloverdale Battalion Chief Rick Blackmon said firefighters were called to the scene around 2:11 p.m. and found that flames had spread from the debris pile across the grass to the two structures. It took about 25 minutes to contain the fire.

The cabinet shop sustained minor damage and the vacant house suffered moderate damage.

The cause remains under investigation, he said.
