Lake County authorities were searching for a Kelseyville man suspected of setting a woman on fire Friday morning before eluding Lakeport police in a high-speed vehicle chase.
Kevin Ray Parker, 54, was last seen by a police officer turning onto a dirt road in the 7770 block of Highway 29, the Lake County Sheriff's Office reported. He is considered to be armed and dangerous, sheriff's officials said.
Authorities suspect Parker fled a Kelseyville home early Friday morning on a motorcycle after a vicious assault on a woman that included her being sprayed with a flammable liquid and set on fire.
The sheriff's office said Parker put out the flames and then threatened to kill the woman, who was able to escape when he stepped outside to get something from his motorcycle.
The woman escaped and contacted a neighbor, who called 911, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies were called to the home in the 6300 block of Soda Bay Road at 6:25 a.m. for a report of a woman screaming in pain.
Parker fled the area before deputies' arrival. The woman told them that Parker may have been armed with a handgun, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies reported that some of the woman's hair had been burned off the right side of her head and the house smelled of burned hair and lighter fluid. She also had apparent burns on the side of her neck.
Shortly after alerting law enforcement dispatchers to issue a lookout for Parker, a man fitting his description was seen by a Lakeport police officer, the sheriff's office said.
After the motorcycle rider failed to stop, a police pursuit led through downtown Kelseyville and eventually to Highway 29, the sheriff's office said.
