Willits man flown to Santa Rosa hospital after car wreck

A Willits man was flown by air ambulance to a Santa Rosa hospital Friday night after the Honda Civic he was driving collided head on with a Toyota Tacoma pickup on a rural Mendocino County road.

The crash, reported about 6:30 p.m on Sherwood-Fort Bragg Road, resulted in moderate injuries to the Civic driver, Shawn Wilburn, 38.

He was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He was listed in fair condition late Saturday.

The driver of the pickup, Andrew Perrill, 50, of Willits was uninjured, according to the CHP.

The eastbound Civic and the westbound Toyota collided about one mile west of the intersection with Sherwood Road, the CHP reported.

The crash is still under investigation and it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor, the CHP said.
