Man reported missing later found dead in Clearlake creek

The body of a missing 72-year-old man was found in a Lake County creek hours after he was reported missing.

Yongli Zhang, who had been showing early signs of dementia, was reported missing Saturday around 12:30 p.m. after leaving a residence in the 15200 block of Harbor Lane in Clearlake.

Clearlake Police actively searched the area for Zhang, with the assistance of Cal Fire and the Lakeshore Fire Department and other agencies.

Police said Zhang did not speak English, but provided no details on his connection to the neighborhood, or whether he lived there.

At about 8:15 p.m., a dive team located his body underneath a residence in the same block of Harbor Lane where he disappeared.

The homes in the area line Cache Creek and a large harbor.

The death appeared to be an accidental drowning and there were no suspicious circumstances, according to police.
