An Oregon man was killed Sunday night when the truck he was riding in rolled down an embankment, the CHP and the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said.

According to the CHP, two men were riding in a 1982 Ford truck on a private road near Garberville shortly before 9 p.m. when the vehicle veered off the road and rolled down an embankment. It is not clear what caused the accident.

The driver was ejected and killed. The other man suffered only minor injuries.

The person killed was Franz Westfal, 46, of Oregon, Mendocino Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott Poma said. He did not release the town where the man lives.

The CHP said the injured man was Luis Alfaro, 46, of San Francisco. He was transported to Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits
