Early morning blaze damages 2 Santa Rosa homes

Three people escaped an early morning fire that spread to two homes in west Santa Rosa, officials said Sunday.

When firefighters arrived at a home at 2428 W. College Ave. just after midnight Sunday, the garage was on fire with the flames spreading to the second story.

The occupants of the house were identified as Tam and Alexis Shawgo. No injuries were reported.

The blaze also threatened an adjacent home, prompting a second fire alarm and more personnel sent in to help.

Damages to both structures were estimated to be $100,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
