Man wanted on warrants arrested after Guerneville chase

A Cazadero man wanted on arrest warrants led sheriff's deputies on a chase into the Russian River on Saturday and was arrested after he was grabbed by a deputy dangling from a helicopter.

Dylan James Kopman, 21, who was wanted on warrants alleging resisting arrest and selling prescription drugs, ran from deputies who saw him in Guerneville at 3 p.m. Saturday.

After a brief scuffle at the Guerneville River Plaza, deputies said Kopman broke free and ran across the bridge and into the river.

A deputy hanging from the end of a long line from the sheriff's helicopter was able to grab Kopman and pull him onto a sandbar, where he was arrested.

Kopman also was booked at county jail on new allegations of resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer.
