Letter of the Day: Anniversary missed

  • Thousands of jubilant people celebrate V-J Day as they gather on New York's Times Square, after the official announcement that the Japanese had accepted the terms of Potsdam and surrendered, hereby ending World War II, on August 15, 1945. (AP Photo)

Anniversary missed

EDITOR: For those who were alive in 1945, and especially those of us in the military, Aug. 14 was the most important day of our lives. Japan surrendered, ending World War II. It's interesting that the anniversary of V-J Day, Aug. 14, 1945, was not mentioned in the press.
