Santa Rosa man suffers major injuries in ATV crash

A Santa Rosa man remained hospitalized Monday with serious injuries stemming from a weekend ATV crash in Lake County.

A REACH medical helicopter flew Damon Gronlund, 28, to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after Saturday's 9:45 p.m. crash.

Gronlund, who wasn't wearing a helmet, suffered major head injuries after he was thrown from the vehicle, said the CHP.

He'd been riding on rural Bartlett Springs Road in the hills above Nice when he lost control of the 1999 Polaris ATV.

The crash remained under investigation Monday but a CHP report indicated alcohol appeared to be a factor.

A Memorial Hospital spokesman Monday said Gronlund was in serious condition.
