About 900 people sampled cuisine from 35 stations Saturday at Taste of Petaluma, a fundraiser for the Cinnabar Theater.

Seventeen musical acts and two belly dance groups performed for the crowd as they dined.

Organizer Laura Sunday said about $35,000 was raised, the best total yet in the event's eight-year history and a marked improvement over last year, when Taste of Petaluma went head-to-head with Petaluma National's appearance in the Little League World Series.

"We didn't have the World Series to contend with this year, and it was just great," Sunday said. "The weather couldn't have been better, and the food was fabulous."

Next year's Taste of Petaluma is slated for Aug. 23.
