Two crashes that happened minutes apart on Bodega Highway Sunday resulted in the highway's closure and sent one man to the hospital, possibly with serious injuries, officials said.
The first crash, reported at 4:24 p.m., involved a head-on collision between a pickup and a passenger vehicle on Bodega Highway near Freestone Valley Ford Road.
A crew with the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District witnessed the crash and stopped to render aid. A 19-year-old was taken to the hospital, which was notified of a possible incoming trauma case, according to emergency dispatchers.
While crews worked that crash, another one involving a motorcycle and vehicle was reported on Bodega Highway near the intersection with Bohemian Highway.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries. The motorcyclist refused treatment, said Darrin DeCarli, a battalion chief with Gold Ridge Fire Protection District, which responded to both calls.
He said the CHP shut down the highway from about 4:45 p.m. to 5:20 p.m.
