Swinging on Lakeport flower pots bring arrest

A Lakeport man was arrested over the weekend after he apparently attacked flower pots dangling from city street lights, according to police.

Two witnesses called police at about 2 a.m. Sunday to report a man was hanging from a light pole on the 100-block of North Main Street and pulling down hanging flower baskets, Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen said.

Officers dispatched to the area found two decorative flower baskets in the street, Rasmussen said. Witnesses told police the baskets were casualties of a vandal who jumped up and hung onto the decorations until they broke off the poles, Rasmussen said. The man apparently then kicked them into the street.

Officers found Hudson Lawrence Jack, 21, and arrested him on suspicion of public intoxication and vandalism, Rasmussen said.

Jack was released on bail, according to Lake County Jail records.
