Highway 116 was closed south of Sebastopol on Tuesday night after a car crashed into a utility pole, dropping live power lines to the ground, emergency dispatchers and PG&E reported.

The CHP website said the state highway was closed near Lone Pine Road just before 9 p.m.

A Ford Mustang struck the pole on the right side of the road, the website said.

Responders at the scene were awaiting a PG&E crew, it said.

A power pole was broken, with energized wires on the ground, PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

No power failure was reported, she said. PG&E's crew would have to determine if the wires could be repaired without turning off the power, Morris said.

An emergency dispatcher said there were "moderate" injuries involved in the crash.
