Fire destroyed a shed behind a south Santa Rosa home Wednesday morning and ignited the back wall of the nearby house before firefighters were able to douse the flames and prevent their spread into the home's interior.
Fire personnel were investigating whether electrical circuitry may have caused the fire, which broke out shortly after 10 a.m. at Corby and Bellevue avenues, just south of Santa Rosa's Auto Row.
A tall column of smoke rose from the shed in the early minutes of the blaze, and initial reports indicated the fire was on a commercial property, prompting a large response, Santa Rosa Fire Battalion Chief Mark Basque said.
The fire was doused fairly quickly and, though flames crossed the few feet between the structures and spread into the attic of the house, was prevented from getting into the home's living space, Basque said.
One bedroom also had minor water damage, Rincon Valley Fire Prevention Officer Cyndi Foreman said.
