Petaluma drivers might want to steer clear of East Washington Street near Highway 101 through mid-week as road work continues.

Police issued a traffic advisory for westbound East Washington between Ellis Street and Edith Street, where the right-hand lane will be repaved. Work will continue from 101 to Edith in the same lane. Petaluma public works employees have been replacing the water main that runs beneath the street.

The area has been torn up for months with Caltrans work on the on- and off-ramps, the East Washington Place shopping center and the water main.
