Congressman Mike Thompson to host town hall Tuesday in Cotati

Rep. Mike Thompson will be in Cotati on Tuesday taking part in a town hall meeting planned by Mayor Mark Landman.

The event is to be Thompson's only such scheduled public meeting during the Congressional recess.

Thompson, D-St. Helena, has been in the news recently, announcing $39.7 million in Department of Transportation grants for the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport expansion; voting against limits to the National Security Agency's domestic surveillance programs; and pushing a bill to expand background checks for people buying firearms.

The town hall is the second organized by Landman, who took over as Cotati's mayor in January.

The Tuesday meeting is to be held in a more formal setting than the first, which was at the Redwood Cafe. It will be at the Cotati Room, 201 W. Sierra Ave., from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
