Santa Rosa trailer fire may have been arson

A fire that destroyed a woman's trailer on Stony Point Road just south of Santa Rosa on Monday may have been set by an angry ex-boyfriend.

Santa Rosa firefighters got a report of a 27-foot travel trailer on fire just south of Yuba Drive around 5:20 p.m., and arrived to find it fully engulfed, said Battalion Chief Mark Basque.

They brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes, but the trailer and all of the contents were completely destroyed, he said. A woman had been living in the trailer, which was parked on the property of relatives.

A male acquaintance of the woman had been spotted in the area shortly before the fire.

"In the very recent past, he had made threats to burn it down," Basque said.

Sonoma County Sheriff's Department officials were called to assist in the investigation.
