Police dog helps in arrest of suspected Clearlake domestic violence suspect

A domestic violence suspect running from Clearlake police was stopped in a neighbor's yard by a police dog, according to police reports.

Early Sunday officers were called to a house on Third Street to investigate injuries to a woman who had allegedly been assaulted by her husband, police said. She'd been punched repeatedly and hit with a flashlight.

The suspect ran from officers into a neighboring yard, ignoring an officer's warnings to stop or a police dog would be sent after him.

"Max" went after the man and held him for officers, biting him on one leg and arm, police said.

Suspect Miguel Garcia, 31, of Clearlake was treated at a hospital and released.

He was booked into the Lake County Jail, after his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence with injury, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
