Police agencies throughout Sonoma County conducted coordinated searches of 37 homes of habitual felons and those on probation on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of 10 persons on a variety of charges.
Officers from Cotati, Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Sonoma, Rohnert Park, Windsor, and Sonoma County Probation visited 55 homes throughout the day and searched those where they could gain access, Petaluma Police Lt. Tim Lyons said in a release.
Investigators found prohibited items including drugs, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, and five weapons, including brass knuckles, knives, and billy clubs, he said.
The searches were conducted as part of a $171,126 state grant through the Board of State and Community Corrections, intended to offset the effect of budget cuts for municipal law enforcement agencies. This was the second such sweep conducted under the grant.
