Letter of the Day: Not our war

 • What will be the result of the U.S. taking military action against Syria when it is surrounded by powder kegs in the Middle East? Iran's leaders have threatened to attack Israel if the U.S. attacks Syria. Will this start a deadly chain reaction?

Not our war

EDITOR: As we find ourselves on the brink of war with Syria, I am wondering if President Barack Obama is really ready for the main event. I remember his pledge to get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan and to keep us at peace. According to British intelligence, the Syrian government has already gassed its citizens 14 times. What makes this time different? Obama is like a swimmer who bragged he could win the big match and now finds himself in the deep end of the pool, admitting "I don't know how to swim!" We have no business going into a civil war.
