Truck spills grape load on Highway 29 near Calistoga

A wine grape spill was reported Thursday morning on Highway 29 outside Calistoga.

The grapes can be slippery and pose a risk to motorists.

State Department of Transportation crews were en route to clean up the mess near Tubbs Lane, first reported at around 7 a.m.

CHP Officer Anna Paulson said the spill was merely one of several recently reported on local roadways, as trucks hauling grapes on the region's winding roads are prone to spilling them.

"We have been getting traffic complaints," Paulson said. "It is that time of year."
