End-of-summer concert season

We wait all year for warm weather so we can enjoy our favorite singers and bands out in the open air. Then it goes by so fast.

The summer concert season is winding down already, but there are still some prime chances to hear great live music outdoors.

Soulful singer <b>Shana Morrison</b> (daughter of Van Morrison) and her band, Caledonia, headline Sept. 15's "Fine Arts Festival at the Village," running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Montgomery Village shopping center in Santa Rosa. The day includes arts, crafts and lots of live music. mvshops.com.

World-famous classical violinist <b>Itzhak Perlman</b> performs at 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at Weill Hall at the Green Music Center on the Sonoma State University campus, 1801 E. Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park. $25-$125. sonoma.edu, (866) 955-6040.

And jazz pianist <b>Herbie Hancock</b> performs at Weill Hall at 6 p.m. Sept. 28. $25-$85.

The 27th annual, two-day <b>B.R. Cohn Fall Music Festival</b> opens Sept. 21 with Bad Company with Paul Rodgers, the Doobie Brothers and Pablo Cruise. It continues Sept. 22 with the Doobie Brothers, Heart and the Gin Blossoms.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at the B.R. Cohn Winery Amphitheatre, 15000 Sonoma Highway 12, Glen Ellen. General admission: $89 per day; $160 for both. 800-330-4064, brcohn.com.

The <b>Russian River Jazz and Blues Festival</b> opens at Johnson's Beach in Guerneville Sept. 21with Jeffrey Osborne, Gregory Porter and Ledisi, and closes Sept. 22 with Boz Scaggs, the Robert Cray Band, Los Lobos and the California Honeydrops.

The festival opens at 10 a.m. both days. Tickets cost $50-$80 in advance; $60-$90 at the gate. russianriverfestivals.com.

The 116th annual <b>Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival</b> runs Sept. 27-29 at Sonoma Plaza in downtown Sonoma with food, wine and continuous free live music. valleyofthemoonvintagefestival.com, 996-2109.
