A 21-year-old Fort Bragg woman who was arrested for leaving her baby alone when she left her apartment to try to win back her ex-boyfriend was arrested as well for suspected domestic violence after hitting him in the head with a heavy glass vase, police said.

It was about 2 a.m. Thursday when the woman, Guadalupe "Nataly" Cervera Perez, reportedly left the 10-month-old alone and unsupervised in her McPherson Street apartment to walk about a block to the home of the baby's father, authorities said.

He asked her who was watching the infant, and she said not to worry about it. But he walked her back home and tried to leave after getting her inside, at which point she struck him in the head to prevent him from departing, police Sgt. Brandon Lee said.

An ambulance crew was called, but the alleged victim declined medical help, Lee said. His name was being withheld because he is the victim of suspected domestic violence.

Perez was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, and was later booked into the Mendocino County Jail, police said.
