Rohnert Park police released an artist's rendering of a man sought in the Friday afternoon assault of a housekeeper at The DoubleTree Hotel.
The man reportedly grabbed the victim from behind as she was cleaning the patio outside a first-floor room, the Rohnert Park Public Safety Department said. He put a knife to her throat and forced her back inside the guest room, where he tied her up, authorities said.
The man began to sexually assault her, but she fought him off and started screaming, scaring him away and attracting help, police said.
She told investigators she had seen the man walking toward the hotel from the Rogers Plaza shopping center south of the DoubleTree. He appeared to head back in that direction after she screamed, authorities said.
The suspect was described as a thin, black man between 30 and 40 years old and standing about 5-foot-10. He has writing tattooed on the side of his neck. He was wearing a white button-down shirt, black dress pants and black gloves.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Tara Douglas at (707) 588-3526.
