Cotati City Council meetings will shift from being held on Wednesdays to taking place on Tuesdays, starting Oct. 8.
The council adopted the change by a unanimous vote in July.
City staff recommended the move, saying it would allow for more business flexibility as well as greater public participation.
The meeting schedule remains the same — they are held the second and fourth week of every month — as does the 7 p.m. meeting start time.
Another key reason for making the shift, said Mayor Mark Landman, was to accommodate the weekly Community Voice newspaper's publishing schedule.
The Voice goes to print Wednesday afternoon. That means reports about the Cotati council meetings do not appear in print until nine days after the meeting.
"It's about benefiting the citizens, seeing that they get their information in a more timely manner," Vice Mayor John Del'Osso said.
