All but one of 60 registered sex offenders checked Thursday for compliance with registry laws in Sonoma County were found to be following the rules, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

The department's sexual assault unit, patrol deputies and officers from several other area departments conducted a routine spot check Thursday, Sgt. Ruben Martinez said.

The sex offenders, who are required by law to abide by various restrictions on their living arrangements and activities, were checked to determine if they were fulfilling their registration requirements and parole and probation conditions.

Fifty-nine of the offenders were in compliance with the sex offender registry, Martinez said.

One was in violation and a warrant for his arrest will be sought. One was arrested for a suspected parole violation. That person was booked into Sonoma County Jail.

Details of the violations weren't released, nor were the identities of those arrested.
