Man stabbed in Roseland

A man was in surgery late Sunday after being stabbed multiple times on a Santa Rosa street, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.

The stabbing was reported at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday on Hughes Avenue near McMinn Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood, Lt. Glenn Lawrence said.

Paramedics took the man to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, dispatchers said. Lawrence said the man may have a punctured lung.

Sheriff's deputies blocked off the street and were going door-to-door interviewing neighbors.

Deputies were investigating whether gang affiliations or robbery were motivations in the assault, Lawrence said.

No more information was immediately available.
