A would-be wrong-way driver entering Highway 101 crashed just before confronting oncoming traffic, the CHP said.
Driver Tiressa Briggs, 31, of Rancho Cordova, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and booked into the Sonoma County Jail after the Saturday crash, Officer Marcus Hawkins said.
Briggs was heading onto the highway at 4:20 p.m. via the Railroad Avenue off-ramp near Cotati, which takes northbound drivers off the highway, Hawkins said.
Briggs was driving south, but before she made it to the northbound lanes, she crashed into an embankment. Her Mazda-3 partially blocked the off-ramp, and a passing motorist called 911.
Briggs was uninjured, Hawkins said.
