Sonoma Valley markets cited in underage alcohol sting

Easy Stop Market in Sonoma proved an easy stop for a minor to get alcohol Friday night, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office. So did Boyes Food Center in Boyes Hot Springs, deputies said.

The two venues were among 21 establishments where under-age decoys tried to buy drinks as part of a sting operation in Sonoma Valley.

Employees of Easy Stop Market and Boyes Food Center were issued misdemeanor citations for serving alcohol to minors, and both businesses will be referred to the ABC for administrative violations, according to a news release from the Sherriff's Office.

A 17-year-old also was caught at Boyes Food Center purchasing alcohol with a driver's license that belonged to another person who was over 21. The minor was cited and released to his parents.

The Sonoma Police Department offers free quarterly classes on responsible beverage service. The next class will be held Apr. 17. For information, call 996-3602.
