Skateboarder suffers major injuries in Windsor collision

A Santa Rosa man who was hit by a car while riding a skateboard remained hospitalized Wednesday with major injuries.

John Chance, 30, was travelling along East Shiloh Road in Windsor at about 8:25 p.m. Tuesday when he reportedly swerved into traffic, the CHP said.

Chance was struck by a 2011 Lexus sedan driven by Michael Giola, 62, also of Santa Rosa, the CHP said.

Giola also had been eastbound, east of Old Redwood Highway.

Chance was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, reportedly with multiple broken bones and other injuries. He was listed in fair condition Wednesday.

Officers were investigating whether alcohol was a factor in Chance's actions.
