Two injured in head-on crash on Dry Creek Road

Two drivers received major injuries Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision on Dry Creek Road south of Lake Sonoma.

A preliminary investigation suggests that Harpeet Singh, 27, of Vallejo, was driving eastbound near Dutcher Creek Road when his 2005 Chevrolet van drifted toward the right side of the road, said CHP Officer Jon Sloat.

Singh over corrected and the van swerved into the westbound lane, striking a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Thomas McRann, 63, of Santa Rosa.

The crash occurred about 2:20 p.m. Thursday. Dry Creek Road was closed for 90 minutes and traffic was diverted around the scene through a vineyard access road.

Firefighters had to extricate Singh from his vehicle.

Both drivers were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with what Sloat described as major but not life-threatening injuries. On Thursday night both men were listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
