Suspected repeat drunken driver held after Cloverdale crash

A Cloverdale man just weeks into a license suspension because of an August drunken driving conviction was arrested again Wednesday after running his car off the road and crashing, the CHP said.

Eric Torres Cortes, 23, was being held at the Sonoma County Jail without bail Friday because of an immigration hold, jail personnel said. He was also booked for suspected drunken driving and driving on a suspended license, the CHP said.

Cortes was traveling on Asti Road around 5:25 p.m. Wednesday when another driver who had been following him reported a possible drunken driver, the CHP said.

An officer who responded found Cortes' Toyota Camry in a field and tested the driver's sobriety. He failed, the CHP said.
