Forestville man killed in bicycle crash

A bicyclist who was struck and killed in Forestville was identified Sunday as Elmer Donald Raddohl, Jr., 49, CHP officials said.

Raddohl, a Forestville resident, was struck from behind by a white Toyota 4Runner SUV just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday as he was riding on Mirabel Road near Spear Ranch Road, Officer Rick Fondersmith said.

Driver Pamela Jo Shirley, 59, of Forestville ran to the nearby Forestville Fire Protection District station after the crash, Fondersmith said.

Shirley told officers she didn't see the bicyclist before the crash, according to the CHP.

Raddohl was declared dead at the scene.

The man wasn't wearing a helmet or reflective gear at the time of the crash. The sun had set about an hour before, at 6:25 p.m.

Fondersmith said it was too early in the investigation to state a fault in the crash.
