An allegedly drunken 24-year-old Geyserville man frightened a female housesitter and teenage boy when he entered a Healdsburg home Saturday night, then proceeded to shed his clothes and rummage through things, police said.

Brad Pitkin, who had stripped to his underwear, grabbed a knife and some clothing before encountering a resident in an upstairs bedroom, police said.

Someone in the house called authorities, who arrived at the house in the 300 block of Matheson Street in time to arrest the suspect at gunpoint as he attempted to exit the front door.

Pitkin was taken into custody and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on $50,000 bail, charged with residential burglary and probation violation.

Healdsburg Police Sgt. Nick Castaneda said Sunday it's unclear why Pitkin removed his clothes down to his underwear. But no one in the house was hurt or physically threatened, he added.

There was no sign of forced entry. It appeared Pitkin entered the house through an unlocked door, according to Castaneda.

"One of our main concerns is to let people know to lock their doors," he said. "We have had other incidents where we've located individuals in other people's backyards who are highly intoxicated. They just end up there. Who knows how? They're just sleeping or unconscious."
