Falling tree, pole close two Sonoma County roads

Crews closed two Sonoma County roads early Tuesday due to a falling tree and a pole into power lines.

At about 7:05 a.m. callers reported a dead pine tree had fallen into wires on Calistoga Road near Alpine Road, reported the CHP.

The CHP issued an alert that the northeast Santa Rosa road was closed between Alpine and Gates roads due to the danger of the falling wires and tree.

Morning commute traffic was backing up in the area and the CHP recommended drivers use Mark West Springs Road from Highway 101 to get over the hill to the Calistoga area.

At about the same time, in Kenwood, a pole tipped into wires, according to Sonoma County emergency dispatch reports.

Crews also closed that area, just off of Highway 12 at Mission Drive and Greene Street.
