One dead in Highway 121 head-on crash

A head-on collision Tuesday evening caused one death and four major injuries and closed Highway 121 between Highway 116 and Highway 37, according to CHP.

Emergency crews from Schell-Vista Fire and Lakeville Fire were on the scene of the two vehicle accident at 7:30 p.m. Two helicopters were dispatched to perform medical evacuations.

Patients were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa and Oakland Children's Hospital.

A silver Toyota sedan with two child passengers and a Jaguar with one adult passenger collided head-on sending the Jaguar into a ditch. The crash occurred along Highway 121 about three miles north of Highway 37, said Brian Clarke, a Lakeville Fire spokesman.

The passenger in the Jaguar was pronounced dead on the scene. The other passengers required extrication, Clarke said.

The crash blocked both lanes of traffic. CHP reopened the highway at 8:40 p.m.
