Santa Rosa police arrested three men suspected of stealing stereo speakers from a man who was selling them from his car.
During the investigation, officers also found a gun and several pounds of marijuana in the home of at least one of the suspects, Sgt. Dave Linscomb said.
The victim told police he met two of the suspects Monday in a Rohnert Park shopping center parking lot, where he was trying to sell the speakers.
Thinking he would close a sale, the victim followed the two to a Santa Rosa apartment complex on Piner Road. A third suspect then joined them, Linscomb said.
Loren Uriarte, 25, allegedly pointed a handgun at the 27-year-old victim and told him he was taking some merchandise, Linscomb said.
The victim ran and called police for help. When he returned to his car, speakers were missing.
The investigation led police to a home on Flower Avenue, where they arrested Uriarte and two other men, Anthony Merciari, 29, and Curtis Tornai, 25, all of Santa Rosa, all on suspicion of robbery.
Bail for each was set at $50,000. Uriarte and Tornai remained in jail Wednesday. Merciari was released after posting bail.
