Santa Rosa man gets 12+ years in attempted robbery case

Loren Uriarte, 26, of Santa Rosa was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years and eight months in state prison for using a gun in an attempted robbery and other offenses.

On Oct. 7, a jury found Uriarte guilty of felony charges that included attempted robbery and possession of marijuana for sale, as well as misdemeanor possession of testosterone. The jury also found Uriarte had personally used a firearm during the attempted robbery.

Police said Uriarte attempted to rob at gunpoint a 27-year-old Los Angeles man who was led to Uriarte's apartment complex by two other men. Prosecutors declined to press charges against the two other men because of insufficient evidence.

"We were pleased with the jury verdict and sentence in this case, demonstrating that there is no place for those who use firearms to carry out violent crimes in our community," District Attorney Jill Ravitch said in a statement.
