Fire destroys North Lakeport home

A large fire destroyed a residence on Lakeshore Boulevard in North Lakeport on Thursday morning, officials said.

The blaze in the 5000 block was first reported at 11 a.m. and when firefighters arrived the house was completely engulfed, with a cloud of black smoke rising into the sky.

Spencer Johnson, a firefighter with Lakeport Fire Protection District, said the house, valued at roughly $400,000, was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is believed to be accidental, he said.

Firefighters with the Kelseyville and Northshore fire protection districts assisted in battling the blaze.
