Authorities find truck associated with Kelseyville clerk's murder

Lake County authorities say they may have found a truck associated with the brazen Jan. 18 slaying of a Kelseyville convenience store clerk.

The black 2008 Toyota Tacoma was discovered Tuesday over the side of an embankment on the Hopland Grade, a steep, winding section of Highway 175 between Hopland and Lakeport.

Authorities said the Tacoma pickup had been reported stolen from the Kelseyville area on the night that longtime area resident Forest Seagrave, 33, was shot and killed during a robbery at the Konocti Gas and Mart on Main Street, across from Kelseyville High School.

A truck matching its description was seen in the area around the time that Seagrave was gunned down, and its driver may have been a witness or been somehow involved in the crime.

Authorities said Seagrave, who had worked at the store for about seven years and was a caregiver for his mother, was shot at close range by a masked and hooded figure who was caught on surveillance tape.

Crime scene investigators have been scouring the truck since its recovery for any evidence they might find.

Anyone with information is asked to call authorities at (707) 263-2690.

A $10,000 reward has been offered in the case.
