Two men remained at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Monday after suffering significant injuries in separate weekend crashes.
Jacques Brix, 63, of Healdsburg was in serious condition Monday, three days after firefighters extricated him from a crashed BMW sedan off West Dry Creek Road, according to CHP Officer Jon Sloat and hospital staff.
A caller reported the crash at 9:35 p.m. Friday near Emerald Ranch Road. The BMW had drifted off the road, hit a tree and ran down an embankment, Sloat said. Brix appeared intoxicated and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving though kept in hospital care because of his injuries, he said.
A 28-year-old Santa Rosa man was in critical condition Monday night, hospital officials said.
Brian Macler crashed an all-terrain vehicle Sunday off Meyers Grade Road near Highway 1 on the Sonoma Coast, Sloat said.
Macler suffered major injuries and was flown to Memorial Hospital. Officers suspect alcohol was a factor, although the circumstances of the crash were still under investigation, Sloat said.
