A fire burned about 15 acres near the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas east of Ukiah Saturday.
The fire started at 1:36 p.m. and was contained in two hours, said Ukiah Valley Fire Engineer Eric Singleton.
He said the cause was still under investigation.
The fire burned to about a quarter mile away from some single-family homes, but they were not considered threatened, he said.
The blaze took place in an area of grassy terrain and mossy oaks, he said.
