A Santa Rosa man was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Sunday evening with stab wounds after a confrontation near Cook Middle School, police said.
A 911 caller reported the stabbing shortly after 8 p.m.
Police who responded to the call found one male, whose age was unclear, with two wounds to his abdomen that did not appear to be life-threatening,
Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Rick Kohut said. Few details were available late Sunday evening.
Police suspect that a group of about four people encountered another group of about seven people near the intersection of Marble Street and Gardner Avenue in Roseland, Kohut said.
The confrontation appeared to have been gang-related, Kohut said.
Despite the number of people involved, the fight didn't appear to have drawn the attention of neighbors near the intersection.
Interviews with witnesses and the victim continued late Sunday.
