Guerneville man critical after Forestville motorcycle crash

A Guerneville motorcyclist suffered major injuries Sunday after crashing into a car that pulled into his path on Mirabel Road in Forestville, authorities said.

Motorcyclist Greg Dahl was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with multiple fractures, including a broken pelvis, CHP Sgt. Rick Fondersmith said.

From a Giusti Road stop sign, Ford Taurus driver Alice Shoffit of Forestville began making a left-hand turn onto northbound Mirabel Road and into Dahl's path just before 11:15 a.m., Fondersmith said.

Dahl skidded but couldn't stop the bike to avoid crashing.

Dahl's bike was on fire and he was in the roadway about 15 feet north of his bike when firefigthers arrived from the nearby Forestville station, Capt. Dave Franceschi said.

Sonoma County sheriff's deputies helped direct traffic as paramedics aided Dahl, and firefighters used extinguishers to douse the blaze, Franceschi said. Shoffit and her passenger were uninjured, the CHP said.

The drivers' ages weren't available Sunday.
