Two arrested in Sebastopol on drug, gun charges

A worried mother's phone call led Sebastopol police to arrest two men on various weapons and drug charges Wednesday after finding stolen guns, ammunition and evidence of drug sales, authorities said.

The mother told police her son was acting strangely and had a gun, Sgt. David Ginn said.

Officers found Cristian Zaragoza Bahena, 18, of Sebastopol and Edgar Valdovinos-Aguilera, 25, of Santa Rosa in possession of a stolen handgun and a high-capacity magazine at the apartment complex on Gravenstein Highway North, Ginn said.

Valdovinos-Aguilera, who police said is a sure? gang member, was also arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale, Ginn said.

Sonoma County's Multi Agency Gang Enforcement Team joined the investigation and searched both men's homes.

At Valdovinos-Aguilera's Santa Rosa residence, they found more methamphetamine, ammunition, marijuana packaged for sale and two firearms, one of which had been reported stolen, police said.

They also arrested additional people, whom Sebastopol police did not identify. Detectives found no evidence at Bahena's home, which he shares with his mother, Ginn said.

Valdovinos-Aguilera and Bahena were arrested on suspicion of possessing a large capacity magazine, having a loaded firearm in public and being in possession of stolen property, Ginn said.

Late Wednesday, Bahena was at the Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. Valdovinos-Aguilera, who was also arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance while armed and for sale, had posted bail and was released, jail staff said.
