Santa Rosa police detectives late Sunday were investigating a stabbing at an apartment complex near West Steele Lane in Santa Rosa.
A male told police that he was walking on an eastern sidewalk of Northcoast Street near Stony Point Road when a group of males apparently affiliated with a rival gang got out of a vehicle and attacked him, Santa Rosa Sgt. John Cregan said. It wasn't clear late Sunday whether the injured male was a juvenile or adult.
He was wearing clothes indicating affiliation to one gang and the group that attacked him were wearing rival colors, according to police.
He was stabbed several times in his upper body, suffering wounds that didn't appear to be life-threatening, Cregan said. He called 911 just before 9:20 p.m., moments after he was assaulted. Paramedics took him to a local hospital.
Officers and gang detectives were searching for the suspects.
No more details were immediately available.
