CHP arrests two Willits bypass protesters

The CHP arrested two Willits bypass protesters Tuesday morning after they chained themselves to a piece of construction equipment.

Travis Jochimsen, 30, and Jamie Chevalier, 61, were arrested on suspicion of trespassing and resisting arrest, said CHP spokeswoman Patty Benedetti.

Both Jochimsen and Chevalier had been arrested during bypass protests prior to Tuesday.Jochimsen is one of the former tree-sitters.

A small group of protesters demonstrated near the site, said Naomi Wagner, an Earth First organizer. Both protesters attached themselves to a piece of equipment used to drive wick drains for the project, Wagner said.
