Sonoma County sheriff's detectives Tuesday continued to search for a man suspected of hiding in a woman's vehicle parked outside a Windsor market and confronting her after she started driving away.
The woman ran from the vehicle, screaming for help, Sgt. Shannon McAlvain said.
Deputies found the car parked nearby and abandoned.
McAlvain said detectives were investigating the case as an attempted kidnapping.
Windsor police deputies were called to the Quick Shop and Deli on Old Redwood Highway at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
The 53-year-old woman told deputies she'd stopped there for a purchase and when she returned to her vehicle and started to drive away, the man emerged from the rear of the vehicle, said McAlvain.
She jumped out and ran back to the store. The man also got out, leaving the vehicle on Shadetree Lane just east of the rural highway.
Deputies searched the area but didn't find him.
McAlvain said he wasn't releasing the woman's name because the man remained at large.
